Bonaire Launches TripAdvisor On-Island Initiative
In an ongoing effort to maximize Bonaire’s online presence, Tourism Corporation Bonaire has initiated an island-wide campaign with tourism stakeholders and TripAdvisor, the world’s largest travel website with over 200 million reviews and 70+ million members.
Aimed at improving the number of reviews for Bonaire’s business community and simultaneously generating traffic to the Bonaire TripAdvisor Home Page, the project revolves around distribution of TripAdvisor promotional materials to island establishments. Restaurants, accommodations and activity providers have been contacted and/or visited by TCB representatives regarding this project to garner support. As the feedback from the private sector has been positive, outreach and distribution of TripAdvisor’s materials will continue.
With an increased number of reviews submitted to this widely used travelers’ website, Bonaire will have more content for (potential) visitors enabling them to better plan their vacation and day-to-day activities when they arrive. According to Travelers Worldwide, 93% of booking decisions are impacted by online reviews. (TripBarometer, 2014).
Throughout the campaign, visuals are being collected that show the local businesses with TripAdvisor branded tote bags and window stickers on hand. Participating companies are providing enthusiastic guests and customers with the bags as tokens of appreciation for their patronage and are hopeful they will share their experiences with other travelers.
