A lot of attention for "De Smaak van Bonaire" in the Netherlands

TCB

Tourism has a huge impact in our lives on the island of Bonaire and it plays a keyrole for the future. On September 10th, the fifth edition of “Smaak van Bonaire” will be taking place in the Netherlands. Different tourism representatives from Bonaire will exchange their views about the tourism development and strenghten the good relationship with the Dutch stakeholders. “Smaak van Bonaire” is always well visited; the last edition in 2013 was visited by almost 100 people. Among them companies like WNF, TUI, KLM and tour operators attended. The media is always wel represented by magazines like Duiken, Travelpro and TravMagazine.

“Smaak van Bonaire” is organized by Tourism Corporation Bonaire (TCB) in cooperation with BONHATA (Bonaire Hotel and Tourism Association). Together they decided on a cozy location on the beach which is the Spice Beach Club in Scheveningen. This is a unique piece of “Bonaire” in the Netherlands, forseen of the well known yellow stones, driftwood etc. Thanks to the Culinary team which will be serving local dishes from Bonaire during this event. TCB supported the chef of the Culinary team Miguel Saragoza; so he can be present at the event. Together with chef Ronald Gosepa and Han ten Winkel they will treat all the guests in Scheveningen to some delicious local dishes of Bonaire.

Also thanks to Stinapa for organizing the Lion Fish Derby which will be held this Saturday August 22nd. The lionfish they catch will be sent to the Netherlands, and will be prepared by the chefs; who will then serve not only goat meat, but lionfish as well. As far as we know, this is the first time that lionfish will be prepared by chefs from Bonaire and eaten in the Netherlands.

In addition to the event in Scheveningen there is a lot of attention from the Dutch tradepress for Bonaire. Last week a travel agency campaign started in the Netherlands called “So Bonaire” with the chance to win a trip to Bonaire; where travel agents can participate. Meanwhile hundreds of travel agents already participated. The travel professionals who give the most correct answers in the shortest time will be invited to participate in the finale on September 10th, during the “Smaak van Bonaire”. Jack Spijkerman, a friend of Bonaire will lead the final and BONHATA will hand over the main price to the winner.
