Join us for Nest Monitoring on Klein Bonaire
From May until October, we visit Klein Bonaire three mornings a week, looking for sea turtle activity. You can join us in our new boat to Klein Bonaire. You will be walking along the 2 km beach with STCB's turtle experts looking for turtle tracks; both from adult females coming on shore to lay their nests and also from newly hatched sea turtles. The cost for the field trip is 40 USD for adults and 20 USD for children under 12 years. Residents who bring their ID get 50% discount. Your financial contribution is used to fund our nest monitoring patrol and help safeguard Bonaire's sea turtles.
Reservation in advance required, please contact Dr. Sue Willis at firstname.lastname@example.org
Every Tuesday morning STCB goes to Sorobon to clean and repair the seagrass lines. Sorobon is the side of Lac Bai where the windsurfers surf. This is a prime windsurfing spot because Lac is very shallow and there is wind consistently. Unfortunately, this area also has seagrass beds that are vital to the marine ecosystem and that filter the water in Lac. Due to windsurfing, these seagrass beds are getting destroyed. Without these seagrasses Lac will not be clean and clear, so to protect them from surfers STCB has created floating barriers. Every week the lines need to be cleaned and repaired to continue to protect the seagrass beds and keep Lac Bai beautiful! To sign up for volunteering, please contact Dr. Sue Willis.
