DPR presented its Media and Trade results and Upcoming initiatives

Last week Tourism Corporation Bonaire (TCB) and Bonaire’s Public Entity (OLB) were in Miami, Florida with their agenda filled with different cruise related meetings. During this visit the team also planned a meeting at the headquarters of Diamond Public Relations (DPR) to discuss ongoing efforts and future plans for the island.

The delegation consisted of TCB; Marketing Coordinator Derchlien Vrolijk and Cruise & Project Coordinator Elesiër Angel together with the government of Bonaire; Commissioner Hennyson Thielman, Harbor Master Günther Flanegin and Policy Advisor Debby Rauwers. Jody Diamond, President of DPR presented the efforts and initiatives achieved since the announcement of their partnership with TCB back in November 2020. During these months Bonaire received a substantial trade and media coverage in North America among others in Caribbean Journal, Travel Pulse, Travel Weekly, The New York Times, Travel+Leisure, Forbes and much more. Also, thanks to the efforts of DPR, TCB hosted different press members and social media influencers. For North America the total reach so far has been over 102 million, with over 126 clips. For Europe there has been a total reach of over 20 million, with over 27 clips. Bonaire received coverage on different social media platforms such as DUIKEN, Focus, Connoisseur and of the influencers such as Haroon Ali from National Geographic Travel Netherlands.

Even though direct flights from the US were on hold until just recently, DPR continued with their efforts and several initiatives to keep Bonaire top of mind. They hosted a Zoom Meet & Greet session with partners, created the Love is in Bonaire social media campaign, the Bonaire Misses You campaign with collaboration of over 50 island partners, implementing requirements for the recovery plan, coordinated site and media visits, developed online informational platform for partner outreach, produced a new press kit, secured multiple broadcast giveaway opportunities such as Live with Kelly and Ryan and different media publications, just to mention a few. All these efforts are in direct relation to the main objectives of the Tourism Recovery Plan, reaching the existing dive market, highlighting the diversity of outdoor activities, the exquisite culinary and the luxury amenity Bonaire has to offer.

TCB and DPR have several initiatives planned for the North American market these upcoming months with a summer media blitz consisting of various media outlets such as BRIDES, Cosmpolitan, Miami New Times and Fodor’s and coverage by Travel+Leisure, Wheel of Fortune, ON magazine and a CNN Travel segment. A photography project with a popular well known professional underwater photographer and nature lover and several influencer and press trips such as Men’s Journal, Sophisticated Living, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Access Hollywood and much more. Also planning ahead with campaigns for the Canadian market, awaiting for the borders to open. For the European market they are working on several initiatives such as a filming production on Bonaire of the final segment of a very popular and well-known TV program in the Netherlands which will take place in October, Margriet Magazine, coverage by National Geographic Travel Netherlands, giveaway in LINDA magazine with collaboration of a local partner, and much more.
