Bonaire recognized with 12 Readers' Choice Awards from Scuba Diving

Scuba Diving magazine announced the results of its 2021 Readers’ Choice Awards in the November 2020 issue, recognizing Bonaire in 12 categories.

Nearly 6,000 recreational divers participated in Scuba Diving magazine’s 28th annual Readers’ Choice survey to name the best diving destinations in the world, with votes counted in a variety of categories based on dive destinations visited over the past two years. Bonaire’s reputation as a diver’s paradise continues to dominate the scuba scene as the island secured 12 different awards in the 2021 Readers’ Choice Awards, including five number one rankings. For the 28th consecutive year, Bonaire has maintained its reign as the number one Shore Diving Destination in the Caribbean/Atlantic region. The island also received first place in four other regional categories including Best Beginner Diving, Best Snorkeling, Best Health of Marine Environment, and Best Underwater Photography.

Bonaire was ranked second in the categories of Best Overall Dive Destination, Macro Life, and Advanced Diving. Additionally, the destination received Readers’ Choice rankings in Best Value, Big Animals, Wreck Diving, and Wall
Diving.

‘‘We are so proud of the results of this year’s survey which are a testament to the uniqueness of Bonaire as one of the world’s top scuba diving destinations,” said Mrs. Derchlien Vrolijk, Marketing Manager of Tourism Corporation Bonaire. “It’s an honor to be named among some famous diving spots in the Caribbean and Atlantic region. We are committed to maintaining the island’s spectacular underwater world as it is not only what makes Bonaire a true Diver’s Paradise, but also demonstrates the diversity of our diving product, and our ability to attract divers of all skill levels, from beginners to advanced.”
