To keep Bonaire top of mind in one of the island’s top three U.S. markets, TCB-North America hosted 10 elite travel counselors in the New York/New Jersey area for a Bonaire themed dinner on Tuesday, February 27.

“This was the third travel agent dinner we’ve hosted in New York over the past year, and each one continues to carry the message that while Bonaire is known for its scuba diving, it offers so much more,” commented Maurice Adriaens, Director of Tourism Corporation Bonaire. “One of the objectives of these events is to broaden the agents’ perspective of Bonaire and to educate them by taking them on a digital journey to the island. Throughout the evening, the travel counselors were engaged and absorbed in learning that Bonaire has luxury accommodations, an array of land and cultural activities, and award winning cuisine. The majority said that after the dinner, they felt they had discovered a new Caribbean destination.”

Another objective of the evening was to increase awareness and traffic to Bonaire’s official website and social media channels. Applying a non-traditional approach, the entire presentation was given digitally. The counselors used their smartphones to view the destination presentation on Bonaire’s travel agent landing page, and showcased videos of Bonaire’s luxury product, the new Experience/Explore/Enjoy video and select videos from Vlogger Erik Conover’s Bonaire collection on BonaireTourism’s Facebook page.

“It was a wonderful event, and great presentation,” said Mary Evans, Restoration Travel. “I’m looking forward to a visit and getting clients there, too. Bonaire is a great destination with a lot to offer the right clients. Thank you for an exceptional and informative evening.”

“Thank you for this wonderful education on the island of Bonaire. It's not just for our divers anymore,” commented Helaine Zagaro, Alpha J Travel. “Looking forward to sending clients to Bonaire in the very near future!”

The attendees also had the opportunity to speak one-on-one with TCB-North America representatives Candice Kimmel, Marie Rosa and Stephanie Horbal and Diane Curtis, the New Jersey Multi-Line Representative for Bonaire.

Attending agents were given a Bonaire tote bag that included the Bonaire Affair, Bonaire brochures, maps, postcards, destination flyer, purses from Phis-Phaktory, salt from the Saltshop Bonaire, and a dive pendant from Elements Bonaire. A wine stopper from Elements Bonaire, and two Bonaire license plates were raffled off at the end of the night.
