50th anniversary cruise industry
The month of November TCB and stakeholders celebrated the cruise month. This cruise month was to create awareness and inform the local community of the ins and outs of the cruise industry of Bonaire. During the cruise month there was an information officer training program, where the students of the MBO leisure & hospitality received a training on how to become information officers for the tourism office. Also TCB had a radio program Krusero50, which had guests like Hugo Gerharts a pioneer in the industry, Maurice Adriaens the director of tourism, Helen Thode and Joanny Trinidad part of the TCB team and Clay Davelaar a local tour operator. There was a business session in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce, where local tour operators received more insight from consultant Evert Blijenberg about how to bring their business to the next level.
The culmination of this cruise month came on November 24. This is the date on which 50 years ago the first cruise ship visited Bonaire. TCB and all the cruise stakeholders celebrated at the ‘midden pier’ in a fun ambiance for this mile stone for the industry. During this evening the pioneers of the industry that were very instrumental in initiating the cruise industry like Mr. Hugo Gerharts, Mr. Toon Abraham and Mr. Raymundo Saleh and also Mr. Gabriele Tixi whom was very instrumental in boosting our cruise industry in the last five years.
TCB also had a special recognition for the port office and Don Andres NV for their continuous support and cooperation for the cruise industry.
TCB wants to thank all the parties that have been involved in the cruise industry for many years, the port agents that for many years have promoted Bonaire and everyday do their best to accommodate the cruise lines on our island. The tour operators that work hard to offer the best experience to our guests on our island. The taxis that make sure that all our visitors reach their destination.
The cruise market vendors that offer the best from our island. All the shops, restaurants, hotels, bars and activities that all add to the experience of our visitors. The OLB for continuing to invest in tourism of the island. The TCB team that works hard to make sure Bonaire is on the map and that all our visitors feel like they are truly our friends.
The whole community that for many years have showed our visitors that they are very welcome here and that Bonaire truly is the friendly island.
A big thank you to everyone and now lets continue working for another 50 more years of the cruise industry!
