Bonaire National Marine Park
Bonaire National Marine Park (BNMP), established in 1979, starts at the high water mark and extends to a depth of 200 ft (60 meters), covering an area of 6672 acres. Everything within the BNMP, living or dead, is protected.
All users of the Park, must adhere to specific BNMP rules and regulations. All Snorkelers are required, by law, to purchase a nature tag ($10 per snorkeler per calendar year). An orientation is given to snorkelers and divers upon each visit to Bonaire.
Additional rules and regulations are covered in the BNMP orientation. For example, no spear fishing, glove wearing or anchoring is permitted. The Marine Park has a brochure available.
By following BNMP protocol, each and every visitor contributes to the protection of Bonaire’s Reefs.
