Culinary Team

Bonaire offers an array of culinary talent as evidenced through its award winning cuisine and Culinary Team.  The Bonaire Culinary Team competes in the annual “Taste of the Caribbean” events, offered by the Caribbean Hotel Association, at the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Conference.

Bonaire’s Culinary Team is a Foundation that started in the 1990’s, by restaurateur Sarah Matera.  Attending the competitions, Bonaire’s chefs and bartenders not only compete, but also explore the diverse cuisine and beverage offerings found throughout the Caribbean.  Prior to competition, the team strives for success by testing menus and skills at advertised fundraising events, enjoyed by both locals and visitors.

In addition to myriad awards, in 2007, the team won a silver medal and the Award for Most Innovative Menu by featuring salt as the theme ingredient in honor of Bonaire.
