The story of....... Gary Natkin - Ambassador of Bonaire! I have been to Bonaire 13 times starting in 1997. When we hit the island, I never felt so free! When I started coming to Bonaire, the island was a different place - it wasn't so busy. As the years passed and buildings were built, the resorts popped up and the world found the divers paradise. There is always one constant: the people stayed the same. Between the friendliness of the people, the gentle breezes, the fantastic diving, I always felt at home here... I work at Toucan Dive in Lake Villa, II. I have been running trips to the island several years. The owner of the dive shop is surprised at the excitement every time I announce the trip. They are always filled, in some cases overfilled. This year, we had 16 spots saved and 24 wanted to come with us. This year, my wife Susan and I are staying for two weeks. Friday, October 8, Peter and Doris Renshof were honored by the Tourism Corporation Bonaire with the bronze ambassador medal for visiting Bonaire for the last 14 years. In 1996 they came here for their first time. Since then they have visited Bonaire, years after years. They stayed at resorts as Caribbean Club Bonaire and Buddy Dive Resort but also at private houses. Besides this, Peter has been promoting Bonaire for many years on the boat and dive show in Dusseldorf, Germany together with the German tour operator ABCTravel. They celebrated their 14th visit during happy hour at Buddy Dive Resort last Friday. We want to thank Peter and Doris for their continuous support in this market, putting Bonaire on the map time and time again! Last Thursday, October 21st, TCB has recognized three ambassadors! Rob Harris whom already received his silver medal in 2008, but was honored yesterday with his GOLD medal!! Congratulations! Over 21 year of visiting and counting.., You might be wondering why he chooses Bonaire: Rob Said: Bonaire is the only place that I bring groups to every year on an annual basis for many reasons; The beauty of the Island, the incredible wonders under the sea, and the beautiful weather are just a few of the reasons. But the number one reason for repeatedly coming to Bonaire is the people. They are the kindest, most welcoming of any of the islands that I have experienced. On his trip for this year he brought 32 guests with him to introduce and get to know our island Bonaire! On this trip he also had two guests, Gary & Jean, who have been introduced to Bonaire by him in 1997. As a surprise, he have recommended them for an award as well . Yesterday Gary & Jean received their bronze medal for visiting Bonaire for about 13 years! Thanks Rob, Gary & Jean for the loyalty & interest shown! It’s an honor for us to recognize you as our Bonaire ambassadors!

Last Friday, October 22, Richard Wessel and Petra Kossen received their Bronze medal for visiting Bonaire over 10 years! Richard and Petra are friends of the L. Governor of Bonaire. Tourism Corporation Bonaire is recognizing visitors that have been coming to Bonaire year after year. Last Friday, October 15th, TCB honored Haney his bronze medal. Bud Haney has become an ambassador for visiting Bonaire about 13 times in 11 years! Bud always brings friends from the US with him to enjoy Bonaire’s diving paradise.

Thursday Nov 25th, TCB has recognized Dixie and James for their 10th visit to Bonaire! Dixie and James came for the first time to Bonaire in the year 1990. They have seen a lot of (dive) destinations, but always chooses Bonaire!! Since the year 2000 they started to visit Bonaire each year. Friday Nov 26th, TCB has recognized an entire family as Bonaire Ambassadors! Tim Sellick, Manager of US Scuba Center in Rochester Michigan, has been coming to Bonaire since1987. This is his 32nd trip to Bonaire! Tim’s wife, Angela, started assisting him in 1990. It’s her 28th trip to Bonaire! Two of the children, Brandon and Brianna, started visiting Bonaire when they were three and four months old…Now Brandon has visited Bonaire for the 24th time and Brianna for the 15th time. Family Sellick is currently hosting a group of 33 friends on Bonaire to enjoy Bonaire’s crystal clear waters & to celebrate thanksgiving. Tim has escorted over 1300 people to Bonaire since 1987. Congratulations to the Sellick Family. This is what Bonaire is all about, building experiences that last a lifetime!

Congratulations Bob Boyle. As an organizer of Bonaire Diving trips by Undersea Divers Scuba and Diving Center he has been hosting trips to this "Diver’s Paradise" known as Bonaire for over 20 years now. Today we recognized Pat & Julia Pallentino as our new Bonaire ambassadors! Pat & Julia have visited Bonaire for over 10 years! The first time they came to Bonaire, they stayed at Captain Don´s and met some people who had been coming to Bonaire for 28 years. They wondered why divers would keep coming back to the same place, but soon they found out .“There is more fish diversity and more different types of coral than anywhere else we have ever been”. Since that first visit they have brought many friends with them to enjoy Bonaire´s diving paradise! This year they will stay 2 consecutive weeks for the first time to celebrate their 10th visit! This week TCB has recognized David & Jane Elmer from Venezuela for their 15th visit to Bonaire spread over a 11 year period.David & Jane have been diving around the world, but to them Bonaire is considered #1!. Next year, February, they will be back on Bonaire for their 16th trip! Congratulations David & Jane, Keep it up, and we will honor you with our Silver Medal!
