Foundations

Bonaire has numerous foundations that residents and visitors alike can support.  The various foundations (check with the Chamber of Commerce for listing), range from animal protection to one most recently established foundation for environmentalism, Captain Don’s Accolade Foundation.

Captain Don is the original pioneer in Bonaire’s conservation of its reefs.  The Accolade is an award conceived by the Captain to recognize and honor the ocean’s pioneers who, like himself, are instrumental in preserving the world’s oceans.

Since Bonaire has lead reef preservation for more than 35 years, it is only fitting that the Accolade be placed on the island for everyone to see who the recipients are and the environmental achievements they have contributed.
